Shauna Hussey

2nd Grade Homeroom Teacher

Shauna grew up in Ireland where she attended Catholic school entirely through Gaelic. She studied Education and Irish at Dublin City University and specialized in Global Education. She spent four months teaching in a community school in Kolkata, India where her love of travel and global education grew.

When she graduated, Shauna moved to London and taught Grade 5 in a Church of England primary school. She was Head of Music and directed the musical Oliver Twist with the upper elementary students. Shauna is very proud that the musical won the Maidstone Excellence in Musical Theatre award. The following year, Shauna lived in Abu Dhabi where she was the Grade 4 year leader in an international school. She spent six months traveling Asia and South America before returning to Kildare, Ireland. At home, Shauna spent the academic year teaching in Gaelic as the Special Education teacher and Speech and Language coordinator.

Shauna has always wanted to move to the Bay Area to be close to her family in Redwood City and La Honda (Ms. Hussey in Fourth Grade is her cousin!), so she moved to San Francisco in 2017. Shauna was the First Grade Homeroom Teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for two years and loved it. She has spent the past year as the First Grade teacher and the Art teacher at Legacy Leaders Academy for Boys in Vancouver, BC. She is loving the beautiful outdoors in British Columbia and spends her weekends hiking, skiing, kayaking, and camping.

Shauna is so excited to be moving back to the Bay Area to be the Second Grade Homeroom Teacher at OLMC! The Padre community is delighted to welcome back Ms. Hussey!
